40 Day for Life

Calendar, Outreach, Pro-Life, Rosary, Youth Programs
October 6, 2009 9:00 amtoNovember 15, 2009 9:00 am

This fall, from October 6 – November 15 of 2009, our community will be uniting with other cities across America – and around the world – for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history – the 40 Days for Life campaign. People of faith are praying that this effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion.
40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign that has generated measurable lifesaving results in more than 130 cities where it has been implemented. Some locations have reported as much as 28% drop in local abortion numbers and hundreds of new people getting involved in local lifesaving ministry efforts.

WHAT IS THE 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGN?
-Prayer & Fasting: inviting people of faith throughout our city to join together for 40 intense days of fervent prayer & fasting for an end to abortion
-We ask you to pray for an end to abortion, euthanasia, and health care rationing in the U.S.
-Pray for our congressmen, senators, judges, and the president – that they work for securing affordable & complete healthcare for all Americans.

MONTH OF THE ROSARY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AND RESPECT FOR LIFE MONTH

SHC: From the Pastor (09/06/09)

Fr. O'Keefe, Outreach, Pro-Life, Sacred Heart Cathedral

CATCHING UP ON A MIRACLE … It has been several weeks since we spoke about the miracle we asked the parish to pray for last June.  That miracle, of course, involved the life and the health of a baby about to be born.  At the time, the prognosis was that the little girl would be still-born, or that she would only live for a short time.  There were serious medical complications, and the outlook was bleak.  Her parents (both of whom are medical doctors) and their families never wavered in their prayers for a miracle, and our parish joined them in asking Almighty God to permit their daughter to live and to be healthy.  Now, several weeks later, little Santanna Milagros Andrade still lives, and still struggles to survive.  The medical complications persist, but she is still with us.  She and her family still need our prayers!
