The house of discernment will provide an experience of prayer, Spiritual direction, and conversation about priestly life and ministry to  help men who are open to the call of God discern whether the Lord is calling them to enter Seminary and pursue the Ministerial Priesthood.  God’s gift to us of this amazing facility certainly gives us great assurance that He will also send us many men who will actively discern their call there and, with His grace, follow through to the Priesthood.

Summer Bible School will begin Monday June 22 – June 26.  For all children 3 -10 years of age (must be potty trained).  Cost is $10.00 per child.  Register on Monday the 22nd in the Family center or at the Rectory office prior to June 22, 2009

ANNIVERSARY REFLECTIONS:  Last Thursday, June 11 – the feast of the Apostle Barnabas – I celebrated my 39th anniversary of priestly ordination and began my 40th year of priestly service in the Diocese of Gallup.  I am the last non-retired incardinated priest of the diocese whose priestly life has been touched by all of the bishops of Gallup.  I was incardinated into the diocese and ordained a deacon under Bishop Espelage.  I was ordained a priest and assigned to my first pastorate (St. Johns, Arizona) by Bishop Hastrich.  I became the judicial vicar and the rector of the Cathedral under Bishop Pelotte.  God willing, I will live the remainder of my priestly life under Bishop Wall.

A Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration for priestly vocations will be held every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at the Pastoral Center in Gallup. A Holy Hour for vocations will also be held each Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 7:00-8:00 a.m. for your private adoration and prayer. Mass follows benediction and reposition of the blessed sacrament at 8:15 a.m.  There is also a mass at 6:30 AM, prior to Adoration.  This is a good time for prayer and recollection or for taking stock of your lives in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
